A Bug Bit Me and said Screenprint

And screenprint I did. It only takes a few free wood frames to kick my screenprinting binge I guess. Thanks to my boyfriend's mom destashing, I felt compelled finally to purchase a staple gun and some organza (proper screen fabric replacement) and assembled 6 new frames today =) Let it be noted that working with duct tape for a couple of hours really starts to hurt your fingers - the adhesive on that crap is no joke.

Here's a test print I made to see how well the organza works. The pigment is a bit thick on the fabric, more so than I'm used to but considering I went the cheap route rather than buying proper screenprinting fabric I'm happy with it. AND it was in the remnant bin at Joanns and cost me a $1. Win.

Then after testing the screen, I decided to play with my old flamingo screens =) I'm not so happy with the color combo that turned out, that orange kind of looks like vomit in one of those pictures...but its not bad. I'm going to dig through my closet to see what clothes I can come up with to sacrifice for some screenprinting fun.

Anyway progress on the flamingos for fun. You can observe that when it's not a specific project and I'm just playing around, I am lazy and don't iron. Pfft, the wrinkles create unique prints anyway.

And what's even more exciting!! Now that I have a bunch of new frames to play with, I started a new print with a drawing I did from my life drawing class....well part of it. This won't be the whole thing...

Depending on if there's any interest I might try putting some screenprinted clothes in my shop...We'll see ;)

Lazy I am

I've been in a little funk this past week. Not sure why, maybe the summer sun is finally catching up to me but all I've been wanting to do lately is read. Which is fantastic and exciting since I felt like I lost my love for reading since starting and finishing school. But it's slowly coming back.

At any rate, I have some old projects I've never shared, but have been musing on lately. Two screen printed shirts, one reusing my mold spore screen made for fibers class last year, and the other made recently with contact paper and a screen for myself and a friend.

I want to get back into making more complicated screens, but being at home I am somewhat limited. I do have screen filler and drawing fluid though. Just need to get some new screens to play with.

New Potter bags In my shop

Yay hit the home stretch and finished the foretold Harry Potter Bags. Here are a ridiculous amount of pictures to oogle =) Now in the shop shop shop!

Bag 1: I like to think of it as the Luna Lovegood bag. I didn't mean to but there's quite a few patches on there that pay homage to that wacky lady.

Bag 2: This one has some darker references, but my all-time favorite is the awkwardly hug Voldemort patch.

And the last bag: I started doing some wands and I'm so happy with how they're coming out, they're so dimensional and awesome. I love touching them.

Harry Potter Potter Potter

I can't say exactly why but I really got into a Harry Potter mood and am almost done making three bags to go in my shop! I am so excited for some of the new patches I've done up. A sneak peek of the bags waiting for linings and handles. =)

Stitchy Crazy - I've got stuff all over the place

I've been in a productive mood lately. I've been behind on getting some new bags made so I'm trying to make as many patches as possible before burning out. Some pictures of my mess-making (the only way I work).

Work table. I never actually work there but I keep stuff on there. All the patches on the table are finished and waiting to be made into something, the stuff in the fabric basket are waiting to be embroidered and yeah, some other crap too.

Photobucket

The side table where I generally work. Fabric basket has more patches waiting to be embroidered, my embroidery stash neatly contained to two bin things (although there's more that hasn't been wound onto bobbins yet), and cut fabric waiting to be made into patches...

Photobucket

I've been busy! And I've never done this before but I wanna share some of my favorite patches of this batch.

I wanted to make some more Harry Potter themed bags so these are destined for one of those.

Photobucket

Looooooove the detail on this one. Took me a long time to finish it.

And I love dinosaurs so these were made. The first one is going to be really really hard to let go. I just love it so much!

Now this one I like, I still can't decide on what they should be saying. Arg.

Photobucket

A holy hand-grenade! Monty Python reference for the unknowing.

Photobucket

And other randomness. I have a few holiday themed bags in planning stages.

Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!
